    The SNNPRS is endowed with diverse and exceptional mix of Cultural, Natural and Historical Attractions. It is unique in taking up the highest diversity of Nations, Nationalities and Peoples, which has a share of about 70% (56 in No) of the country. Each of these people has unique cultural values and practices, colorful dressing and hairstyles, diverse language which belongs to the four language families, immense oral traditions, social practices, traditional handcrafts and arts as well as unexplored indigenous knowledges. The Region is also well known for its abundant natural attractions. To list some: 7 out of the total 21 National Parks, Wildlife Reserves, Sanctuaries, Controlled Hunting Areas, the two densely forested Biosphere Reserves, astonishing Rivers and Waterfalls, overwhelming the Rift Valley and Crater Lakes. These protected areas and aquatic habitats, besides their spectacular scenery, are home for more than 150 species of Mammals, 600 species of Birds, 20 species of Fishes, dozens of Reptiles and Amphibians, and plenty of Insects. The Arba Minch Crocodile ranch, which is the only crocodile ranch in East Africa, is also the other attraction site of the region. The region is also known for UNESCO registered three permanent and one intangible World Heritages; Tiya Megalithic Stele Site, Lower Omo Paleo-anthropological Site, Konso Cultural Landscape and Fichee Chambala the Sidama People New Year Celebration. The regional capital, Hawassa, is the cultural, commercial and administrative hub of the region, which is visited by many national as well as international tourists, and competent in accommodating different events and guests. Consequently, it is emerging as MICE Tourism center in the country. The regional government through the Bureau of Culture and Tourism is striving to transform the Tourism and Culture Sector in order to maximize the Economic, Social, Environmental and Political benefits of it for the people of the region.
